Johnson was a pioneer of the piano stride style, influenced by Scott Joplin who himself popularized ragtime. Fats Waller was his student and he influenced many other jazz giants such as Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Art Tatum and Thelonious Monk to name but a few. They all drew their inspiration from his style, technique and compositions, developing their own harmonies and musicality. One of his most famous song is “Charleston”, part of the Broadway Show musical score “Runnin Wild”. “Charleston” was a hit in the 20’s, became a popular dance worldwide, and remains characteristic of that era. 1 Blue Moods, Sex 2 Charleston 3 Carolina Shout 4 Ain’t Misbehavin 5 Honeysuckle Rose 6 Blue Turning Grey Over You 7 Over the Bars 8 Riffs 9 Jingles 10 Squeeze Me 11 Snowy Morning Bles 12 Keep Off The Grass 13 My Fate Is In Your Hands 14 Eccentricity 15 If I Could Be With You 16 I’m Gonna Sit Right Down and Write Myself a Letter - JazzAndBluesExperience - SUBSCRIBE HERE : http://bit.ly/10VoH4l (Re)Discover the Jazz and Blues greatest hits - JazznBluesExperience is your channel for all the best jazz and blues music.
