LCD Soundsystem, Holy Ghost, DFA pay tribute to !!! drummer Jerry Fuchs
Friends and bandmates of !!!, MSTRKRFT, Maserati and LCD Soundsystem drummer Jerry Fuchs have paid tribute to him following news of his death earlier this week (November 8).

The 34-year-old died after accidentally falling out of an elevator in a warehouse in New York. Fellow musicians, including LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy and Holy Ghost's Alex Frankel, have now expressed their sadness about his death.

In a blog at Holyghostnyc.blogspot.com, Frankel describes how he was one of the first people to discover Fuchs after his fall, before hailing the late drummer as a "hero".

"Jerry was the star of every band he played with and will be painfully missed by those bands and a vast network of friends, family and, of course, musicians and music lovers worldwide," he wrote.

LCD Soundsystem's Murphy also praised Fuchs for his ability as a drummer, saying, "He was one of the only people we all knew who was literally great at what he did."

Fuchs' Maserati bandmates took to Twitter to comment on his death. "With overwhelming sadness, [Maserati] bids farewell to our drummer and dear friend Jerry Fuchs. Love you, bro," the tweet reads.

Elsewhere, a post on Thejuanmaclean.com – the website of another of Fuchs' bands, The Juan MacLean – featured a blog about him calling him "the greatest friend you could ever have" as well as the greatest drummer.

"Jerry was one of my best and most loyal friends. He was hands-down the best drummer I have ever played with or seen for that matter," it states.

DFA Records label manager Jonathan Galkin also paid tribute to Fuchs. "Whether you knew it or not, people wanted to be in the same room as you," Galkin wrote. "You were a really good drummer, some might say the best we had, but you were a greater friend. I love you and miss you, Jerry."
