Franz Ferdinand secret show ends with stage invasion

Franz Ferdinand’s secret show at Bowery Ballroom in New York last night (June 14) ended with a stage invasion by a group of girls.

In the spirit of previous Franz Ferdinand shows when the band invited friends onstage to play drums, Alex Kapranos last night welcomed the girls onstage for the final track ‘Outsiders’.

Clearly succeeding in his mission to “make music for girls to dance to”, Kapranos left the stage after a stellar performance during which the band debuted several new songs for their American audience.

Dressed in a red western-style shirt, Kapranos led the band through a string of new songs including ‘Anyone In Love’, ‘New Thrill and ‘Turn It On’.

They also treated the crowd to rousing renditions of previous favourite including ‘Take Me Out’, ‘Michael’ and ‘Matinee’.

Meanwhile, the band are Tennessee-bound this weekend for the Bonnaroo festival where they will share the stage with the likes of The Police and Kings Of Leon.
