Lightspeed Champion has performed his debut single ‘Galaxy Of The Lost’ in a Darth Vader outfit at the Shockwaves NME Awards 2008.
The singer-songwriter and recent NME cover star performed the opening track on his debut album ‘Falling Off The Lavender Bridge’ to the packed IndigO2 venue tonight (February 28).
The audience in the east London venue, including Arctic Monkeys, Muse and Hynes’ friends Klaxons, were highly appreciative of the performance.
Speaking to NME.COM later in the evening, Hynes explained his costume choice, saying: "I'm just a really big Star Wars fan. I just said the rest of the band literally had to do it really. I just love Star Wars and these things are so weird, I mean, I don't want to say I hate these things, 'cause I don't, but I thought I'd make it a bit more fun and I just wanted people to chill out."
