The 1975’s Matt Healy compares Taylor Swift to Barack Obama

He also brings Kanye in the equation

The 1975‘s Matt Healy has spoken out about the past rumours that he dated Taylor Swift, as well as comparing the ‘Shake It Off’ star to Barack Obama.

Last year, the ‘Love Me’ frontman was linked to Swift in false tabloid reports – before he added that dating her would have been ’emasculating’. Now, he’s elaborated on the rumours in a new interview with Rolling Stone.

“I said in one interview that we didn’t date, and some dick like Perez Hilton took it out of context and morphed it so it looked like I was throwing shade,” said Healy. “She came to our show, and you would have thought that Barack Obama had come out.”

He added: “I don’t know another person on the planet that would elicit that kind of reaction. Maybe Kanye, but not even him. And now she and he are kind of the same person in the public image. It’s weird.”

As well as revealing that their hit single ‘The Sound’ was nearly given to One Direction, Healy recently teased that new material from The 1975 could be released as early as next year. He also made headlines after calling out Rod Liddle for ‘sexist’ comments the journalist made against Emma Watson when speaking at the UN.
