Band say reformation is all about the money

Hard-Fi have slammed the Led Zeppelin reunion, criticising the band for charging fans so much money for tickets to their December 10 reunion show, and branding them “dinosaurs”.

Speaking to the Daily Star, Hard-Fi’s drummer Steve Kemp went on to suggest that Led Zeppelin’s reformation was all about money.

“Paying over £100 for a ticket is a joke,” he said. “Why should you pay so much money for it? These rock 'n' roll dinosaurs are coming out for one last pay cheque."

“I don’t know what they are going to do on stage that's so special,” he added.

Number 1, this is a charity gig, so the £150 per ticket will not go to the band. Number 2, Led Zeppelin are one of the greatest rock bands ever. The demand is clearly there. 20 million people tried to sign up for tickets.

Led Zep are FAR better than any of the bands around today. Hard-Fi pale into insignificance in comparison. They should have some respect for a legendary rock band with real talent. They will never achieve the same success as Led Zeppelin.

He should be careful what he says. What's he going to do when he's in his fifties and short of cash? Probably go out on the road with a newly re-formed Hard-Fi, trying to break into the lucrative nostalgia market! Not that anyone will be interested in their dated music by then.

I thought the Led Zep gig was for charity. Yes, I know they'll make loads of money from the new interest in their music, but not specifically for the ticket sales for this gig, so his argument is invalid.

hang on...they think led zep are charging too much?the same band that charge £26 or something for a tour which ticket sales were worse than a disturbed tour.

What a grumpy old man Mr Archer is! People will pay whatever they feel is reasonable I would pay £100 if The Libs did a one of reformation!

Absolute inbreds Hard-Fi are. If they'd actually read beyond the tabloids, they would infact know it's for charity. Go back to singing about Cash Machines

here we go again... another band that have contributed nothing to music history dishing out an opinion that nobody is interersted in on one of the biggest, most influential and most successful bands in music history to raise their own little profile.

@ Steve Kemp - piss off you muppet.

This is a tribute gig for their lifelong friend and mentor who was often referred to as their 6th member. All the proceeds are going to charity. And after selling over 300 million records (yes, that's probably 299 million more than you will ever do) I am sure they do not need a last pay cheque. They have turned down numerous reunion tour offers over the years with amounts mentioned that were obscene. Why - because they got integrity and have more cash than they'll ever need. Robert Plant said recently that this gig only came together because Ahmet's wife asked them to do it.

They are going to do nothing special on stage, but they don't have to as their music is special enough. Bands nowadays too often forget that, and pretend to be something just to overshadow their rather average talent. Zeppelin had talent in abundance and that's why Monday will be awesome.

I can't wait and rest my case..

It might be the case that LZ are overcharging and way past their prime. But to hear anything derogatory coming from these talentless poseur sacks of paedophile shit is truly grating.

Quite ironic that Hard-Fi slate ticket prices when tickets for them are £22.50

This is some cheek. Hard Fi announce an arena tour which they are no way good enough to do so they can charge more money and then complain when a band who have been playing since around the time hard fi were born come out of retirement to honour their mentor and friend. Hard Fi should rermember that they as yet have only Stars of CCTV to be proud of as SUBURBAN KNIGHTS is not one to remember

OK first - who the hell are hard-fi to be commenting on something like this, guys you wont be know as "dinosaurs" as aint nobody going to be listening to your music in 10 years time let alone nearly 40 years. You're nobodies in 2007 and yet another band people wont remember in 5 years time. Secondly you should really get your facts straight before commenting like this and making yourself look like d**ks...its a charity event with all net profits going towards scholarships/education for upcoming musicians in USA/UK/Turkey. Finally Led Zeppelin are probably the most important and influential band in rock music, they paved the way for all rock music that followed...and thats whats so special about them on stage.
