what exactly has Mark Ronson written? If he was up for 'best kareoke act' I could understand.

but he doesnt even sing either, he just gets famous singers to do a cover version and then for some unknown reason gets all the credit

Ronson is the modern day Jive Bunny, and his step father was in Foreigner. No suprise then that he lacks original material!

I agree. Best Solo Artist? Playing a guitar which is drowned out by a massive band and whoever is on vocal singing song wrote by other people. If there was an award for biggest knob however...

i think there is nothing wrong with mark ronson doing covers. he puts them in a new style so its hardly a kareoke cover is it.

Ian Brown would be by far the best male. He should also get the outstanding contribution gong. Why its taken people 5 decades to consider Sir Paul for the award I dont know.

Mark Ronson is a tribute act in a club who charges for the material.

THE ORIGINALS ARE FAR BETTER

As much as it pains me to say it, Klaxons won't win anything. It's a shame, as they're the only band I'd want to see win anything, but it's the mainstream public that will inevitably vote for Take That...

I can understand Ronson being nominated. Even if he hasn't written any songs, you can ignore someone that's had something like 7 weeks on number one.

Where the hell is Bloc Party? They should at least get one nomination

Mark ronson did the band arrangements on his album. Anyone who knows anything about musical composition will know that arranging is quite a skill in itself. He also had writing credits on most of the songs on Back to Black so he is far from inept as a songwriter. Personally there are people I would rather have seen nominated ahead of Mark Ronson but this is the Brit Awards people! Popular artist have always been the order of the day. I'm glad to see someone who produces some excellent soul/Motown influenced pop tunes nominated over the usual dross.

I love the Stone Roses and Ian Brown, but he's not nominated as 'The World Is Yours' is probably his most dissapointing album to date. It's not really a farce he wasn't nominated, the album just isn't very good. A farce maybe that the Stone Roses never won a brit for their first album or that Ian Brown never won any brits the year 'Music of the Spheres' was released. But I don't see why he is particularly worthy of being nominated for anything this year other than possibly the Outstanding Contribution award.
