Dennis Wilson's 'Pacific Ocean Blue' has been unavailable for years

Beach Boys legend Dennis Wilson’s classic 1977 album 'Pacific Ocean Blue' is to be reissued after being out of print for over a decade.

The record was originally released in 1977, and is now regarded as a cult classic. The new 2CD 'Legacy Edition' version, out on May 19, will feature the original album plus a brand new bonus track which has never appeared on any bootleg on Disc One.

Disc Two will feature over a dozen bonus tracks from the 'Pacific Ocean Blue' sessions and its’ intended but unreleased follow-up 'Bambu' (known widely, but errenously, as 'Bamboo').

A vinyl edition of the LP, which has been praised by the likes of Primal Scream and Super Furry Animals, will be released at the same time.

The tracklisting for the original album is:

'River Song'
'What's Wrong'
'Moonshine'
'Friday Night'
'Dreamer'
'Thoughts Of You'
'Time'
'You And I'
'Pacific Ocean Blue'
'Farewell My Friend'
'Rainbows'
'End Of The Show'

Dennis Wilson, who was the drummer in The Beach Boys, drowned in 1983 in his native California, aged just 39.

This is a fantastic album up there with the likes of Gene Clark's No Other. Definitely worth hearing: a strange multi-faceted jewel of that while it's of its time, still sounds great now.

About time this album gets a re-release! I seem to remember one of the NME writers started a campaign to get it re-released many years ago. Congrats! You've won!
