50 Cent and Lil' Kim sued for royalties
Record producer says they owe him millions
A record producer filed a lawsuit against 50 Cent, Lil' Kim and two record companies for $2 million yesterday (September 12).
Carlos Evans is alleging that they did not pay him royalties owed to him on the song 'Magic Stick', which sold approximately 2 million copies.
The court papers say that Rotten Apple Records contracted him in 2003 to produce, engineer and mix the song, and it was to be performed by 50 Cent and Lil' Kim.
The track, which was originally intended for 50 Cent's 'Get Rich Or Die Tryin' album, instead ended up on Lil' Kim's 'La Bella Mafia', put out by Atlantic Records.
"It was one of the hottest tracks on that album, and I didn't collect my royalties," Evans told the Associated Press.
Now Evans is seeking $1 million in compensatory damages and $1 million in punitive damages.
