50 Cent unable to see his son

50 Cent has said he is not going through a custody battle with his former partner Shaniqua Tompkins, but rather they are going through a transition in the care of their 11-year-old son, Marquis.

50, who’s real name is Curtis Jackson, said that while he is currently unable to see his son that he is “not going through a custody battle; just a transition. I'd like to be able to just see my baby."

The rapper told MTV.com that while he took his son on the road on previous tours, this summer there is “no communication” with his child saying “it’s tough”.

He is unable to see his child because his former girlfriend Shaniqua Tomkins took out a restraining order against him after her house burned down in a fire which authorities deemed suspicious. Tomkins accused Jackson of trying to kill her, telling TMZ.com:

"He said that he was going to have someone come kill me, and see what he does? This is what he did."

As a result of the accusation, Jackson filed a defamation suit against Tomkins last month, but he is reluctant to discuss the situation with the media, knowing that his son will see or hear the interviews in the future, saying:

"I really don't wanna talk about it, because my son at some point will have the opportunity to see the tapes. She's still his mother, and I'm still his father, regardless. He's gonna love both of us.”

Meanwhile, he intimated that Tomkins is angry because she no longer can finance the lifestyle she got used to when she dated the rapper.

"My relationship with my son is changing because he and his mom aren't friends anymore…The relationship between my wallet and his mom has changed. When people have expensive habits, it's a hell of a transition for them when that money is not there anymore. She said all kind of things about me I never would expect."
