50 Cent NOT cleared of involvement in fire at ex's home

Despite a statement to the contrary this week, 50 Cent has not been cleared of involvement in the house fire that saw a $1.4 million property burned to the ground in Long Island, NY.

A statement on his website earlier this week said that said he had been officially cleared a connection with the fire at his ex-girlfriend’s home, but police say that the “fire is still under investigation. It hasn't been closed either way."

The home was purchased for Shaniqua Tompkins and her son Marquis, whose father is 50 Cent, and went up in flames in May of last year.

The rapper, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, did not live at the home. He and Tompkins had been involved in a legal dispute over his assets, including the $1.4 million home, for several months.

According to the statement on thisis50.com, "the police department and insurance investigators ruled that there is absolutely no proof or evidence suggesting that Curtis Jackson or any affiliated parties were involved. Curtis Jackson has just been cleared of all the accusations. The investigation will continue until the guilty party is found".

Keesha Johnson, a spokeswoman for 50 Cent, said that as he was paid a settlement by an insurance company in relation to the fire, it led her to assume that he was no longer a suspect.

Meanwhile, this week Dix Hills Fire Chief Larry Feld told The Associated Press that he still believes the fire was started suspiciously.
