Reverend Jon McClure unites warring Sheffield football fans at festival Reverend And The Makers Tickets

Rolo Tomassi, Preston, The Chapman Family also play 2009 Tramlines event

Reverend And The Makers' Jon McClure closed Sheffield's Tramlines Festival – which he curated along with Arctic Monkeys' Matt Helders and Toddla T – in chaotic fashion last night (July 26), by attempting to unite two sets of warring football fans.

The weekend bash saw Sheffield stage an urban festival in the style of Dot To Dot or Camden Crawl, with all the main inner city bars and clubs hosting live music and DJs for free.

Reverend And The Makers closed the Devonshire Green outdoor stage with an eagerly anticipated headline performance. Despite the rain, the large crowd was in buoyant mood - although McClure told off a particularly boisterous section of rival football fans at the front who had became a little too heated during his performance.

"I don't care if you're a Blade or an Owl," he said, referring to Sheffield's two football teams, Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday. "It's all Sheffield!"

After calming the audience, McClure and his band played a mix of tracks from their second album 'A French Kiss In The Chaos' - which is released today (July 27) - and older fan favourites like 'Heavyweight Champion Of The World' and 'Miss Brown'. The latter track went down particularly well with the audience, and saw the band joined onstage by Lords Of Flatbush's Steve Edwards.

The festival had got going on Friday (July 24) with Rolo Tomassi playing the first big headline set to an enthusiastic crowd at metal venue Corporation, while the likes of Slow Club - who opened their set by walking through the crowd playing acoustic guitars - Errors and Maps - who showcased forthcoming album 'Turning The Mind' - also proved highlights on the opening day

Saturday (25), was kicked off by former members of Milburn - drummer Joe Green and bass player Danny Lowe - playing in new band Mairead, who were watched by a large crowd, including Helders.

Later the same day, The Chapman Family played an eventful and chaotic set at The Harley, culminating with a stage invader dropping his trousers during the last song, and singer Kingsley Chapman slapping his backside.

The festival's second day also saw former The Ordinary Boys' former singer Preston showcasing his new electro-pop direction ahead of Little Boots, who performed just three songs – 'Remedy', 'New In Town' and 'Stuck On Repeat' - as the evening reached its peak.

Along with Reverend And The Makers, the final day of Tramlines.org saw The XX, Cats In Paris and Airship play, although heavy rain throughout the day saw revellers retreating indoors to find shelter.
