Reverend And The Makers are streaming their new album '@reverend_makers' ahead of its official release on Monday (June 18). Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click to listen to the record in full.
After a three-year hiatus, frontman Jon McLure says the album title, which is also the band's Twitter moniker, is about "the little situations I see living in Sheffield in 2012. Nothing seems to sum up the present and the times we live in more than the @ symbol." Speaking about the concept behind the album, he added:
I was fed up with what I was doing. I got right into political stuff and I was mardy all the time. It was making me miserable and I needed time out. I went a bit bonkers basically but I’m back in a good place now. This album is much more upbeat. Basically, I cheered the fuck up mate.
'@reverend_makers' was recorded in London and Sheffield and produced by Youth (The Verve/U2) and Jason Cox/James Dring (Gorillaz/Professor Green).
The deluxe version of the album, also to be released on Monday, will include the 'Reverend Mixtape Volume 1' bonus disc, which includes collaborations with Kano, Richard Hawley, Roots Manuva, Carl Barat and more.
