Breast cancer claims Latin Grammy winner

Latin singer dies aged 37

Latin singer Soraya has died of breast cancer at the age of 37.

The singer, who born in Colombia, won a Latin Grammy for her self-titled sebut album in 2003.

“I have not lost this battle, because I know the fight was not in vain,” she said on her official website earlier this week.

“It will help end a larger battle, which is early detection to prevent this terrible disease.”

She lost her mother and grandmother to the illness and she worked as a spokeswoman for the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
