A1 TAKE ON THE CHARTS
Boy Band A1 have gone straight to Number One with their cover of the A-Ha song 'TAKE ON ME' this evening (September 3).

The track, a cover of the song A-Ha took to Number Two in 1985, has knocked last week's Number One - Madonna's 'Music' - down to Number 2, while Spiller and Groovejet falls to Number 3.

The second highest new entry this week comes from Paul Oakenfold and Andy Gray under the guise of Element 4, with 'The Theme From 'Big Brother'' at Number Four, while Truesteppers featuring Victoria Beckham has slipped to Number Five.

Speaking to Radio 1 this evening, A1 member Paul said that the group had "high hopes" for the track, but didn't expect it to get to number One - especially considering the original had only made Number Two. He added that to celebrate, the boys, who are currently recording their new album in LA, plan to go out for a meal and "a few drinks".

The full top ten this week runs: 1. A1 - 'Take On Me' 2. Madonna - 'Music' 3. Spiller and Groovejet - 'If This Ain't Love' 4. Element 4 - 'Theme From 'Big Brother'' 5. Truesteppers featuring Dane Bowers and Victoria Beckham - 'Out Of Your Mind' 6. Robbie Williams - 'Rock DJ' 7. Britney Spears - 'Lucky' 8. Mel C - 'I Turn To You' 9. Bombfunk MC's - 'Freestyler' 10. Bon Jovi - 'Say It Isn't So'
