A$AP Rocky has revealed that he is working on a new "instrumental" album.

Hinting that he would not contribute any vocals on the project, the rapper told radio station Wild 94.9 that he had been making his own beats for the record and was planning on releasing it without any fanfare.

"I'm working on an instrumental album right now," he said. "I'm doing all my own beats. It's going to be interesting to see how people react towards my production. I'm going to put it out, I'm not even going to announce it. Just drop it." Asked when he would release the album, meanwhile, he simply replied: "Sometime soon."

Last month, A$AP Rocky said that it is "crazy" that criticism of gay rappers is seen as an issue and topic of discussion. Having previously gone on record as saying that homophobia in hip-hop needs to end, he said: "For instance, one big issue in hip-hop is the gay thing. It’s 2013, and it's a shame that, to this day, that topic still gets people all excited. It's crazy. And it makes me upset that this topic even matters when it comes to hip-hop, because it makes it seem like everybody in hip-hop is small-minded or stupid — and that's not the case."

The rapper, who released his debut album 'Long.Live.A$AP' on January 14 and entered the charts at Number One in the US and Number Seven in the UK, is set to play four dates across the UK next month. The run of shows starts at London's O2 Academy Brixton on May 22 with gigs following at Birmingham's HMV Institute on May 23 and Manchester's Academy 1 on May 25, before wrapping up at Glasgow's O2 ABC on May 26.
