AC/DC 'not playing T In The Park 2009'

Festival chiefs deny newspaper rumours

T In The Park chief Geoff Ellis has released a statement denying that AC/DC will play a headline slot at next year's bash.

Rumours that the Australian band will headline started after a newspaper reported that the rockers had been signed up to play at the Scottish festival.

The Sun had claimed today (November 25) that the band had signed a "top secret" deal to headline T, although Ellis has warned that fans expecting to see Angus Young and co will be disappointed.

"I can confirm that AC/DC will not be playing at T In The Park 2009," he said in a statement.

He added, "We do not want AC/DC fans to buy a ticket for T In The Park under false pretences as this would not only disappoint them, but also the many people desperate to get their hands on a T In The Park ticket regardless of the headliner."

T In The Park is set to take place in Balado, near Kinross, on July 10-12 next year.

Being a local lad the rumour mill is always turning as to who is turning up at T. In my honest opinion I think that they will play, This is just a ploy by Ellis to stop a ton of people buying cheap tickets on Friday when they go on sale at this years prices. White Stripes, Bowie, DC. I have also heard there might be a Murrayfield gig in June. One or the other Angus is coming home...

What a strange coincidence that a few days before the early bird tickets go back on sale. A massive act is rumoured in the press & Ellis is "forced" to make a statement denying it. Imagine having to go to these lengths to get yourself attention with help from your freinds in the press."There's no such thing as bad publicity"
