Axl Rose invites waitress who received a racist note to AC/DC gig

Sadie Elledge was invited by the touring AC/DC vocalist to their Washington D.C. show after the incident went viral

Axl Rose invited a waitress who was subjected to a racist message on a receipt to an AC/DC gig in Washington D.C.

Sadie Elledge, a Honduran-American, was left a note on a receipt from two customers that read “We only tip citizens” earlier this month. The story went viral in the US, with major news channels tracking down the customers – one of whom was of Hispanic heritage – who then denied that they’d written the note.

In the wake of the incident, Elledge was invited by Rose to attend AC/DC’s recent show in Washington D.C. (September 17) after the fill-in vocalist heard her story.

As reported by Loudwire, Elledge was put in contact with Rose through actress Greice Santo, who was also present at the gig. As well as getting a ‘Glam with Greice’ makeover, Elledge and her friends and family also met the Guns N’ Roses frontman backstage, and had Rose’s personal photographer take a portrait of the two together.

Writing for Alternative Nation, Sadie’s grandfather, John Elledge, said that the invitation was a “true thrill.”

“I have been an AC/DC fan for nearly 40 years, and Axl Rose’s invitation to my granddaughter and her family (which luckily included me) to last night’s concert in Washington DC was a true thrill,” he wrote. “Not only was it a fantastic show, but being there with Sadie and her mom and dad was an unmatched experience for three generations of Elledges.

“Axl’s generosity and good humour made this an absolute highlight in our family’s lives. Talking to him backstage, hearing his humour and feeling his kindness to us only magnified my respect for the man. And his performance was out of this world. He really did get the job done. It’s incredible how, in picking Axl to front the band, AC/DC picked up where they left off, without missing a beat. He was both true to himself and true to AC/DC. I’m blown away.”

AC/DC have just finished their ‘Rock Or Bust Tour’, which were the last live dates for long-serving bassist Cliff Williams, who has now retired from music.
