Adele was the biggest winner at last night's MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) last night (August 28), walking away with four Moonmen statues.

The Tottenham soul singer's track 'Rolling In The Deep' scooped gongs for Best Editing, Best Direction, Best Art Direction and Best Cinematography. However, the song missed out on Video Of The Year to Katy Perry's 'Firework' at the Los Angeles ceremony.

Perry's hook-up with Kanye West, 'ET', was named Best Collaboration and was also honoured in the Best Special Effects category.

Lady Gaga received two Moonmen for 'Born This Way' - in the Best Female and Best Video With A Message categories - and accepted her gongs as her male alter ego Jo Calderone. She also performed her recent single 'Yoü And I' with Queen guitarist Brian May.

Other winners on the night included Britney Spears, who walked away with Best Pop Video for 'Till The World Ends' and Foo Fighters, whose track 'Walk' was named Best Rock Video.

Beyonce, who announced she is pregnant with her first child at the ceremony, walked away with the Best Choreography prize for 'Run The World (Girls)'.

Elsewhere, Odd Future mainman Tyler, The Creator scooped the Best New Artist gong for 'Yonkers', while Nicki Minaj and Justin Bieber also walked away with Moonmen.

Live performances came from the likes of 'Watch The Throne' pair Jay-Z and Kanye West, Lil Wayne and Bruno Mars, who sang a cover of 'Valerie' in tribute to the late Amy Winehouse.
