Adele has cancelled all her planned tour dates and public appearances for the remainder of 2011.

The singer, who has so far sold over 3 million copies of her second album '21' in the UK alone, has said that she will be undergoing surgery to deal with her persistent vocal problems and will be unable to perform for the rest of the year.

The dates, which have already been rescheduled once before due to the singer's ill health, have now been called off for good, with ticket buyers able to get refunds from their point of purchase.

A statement on the singer's official website Adele.tv reads as follows:

It is with deep regret that Adele has been forced to cancel her remaining live dates and promotional appearances in 2011. She is to undergo surgery to alleviate the current issues with her throat and a full recovery is expected. As a result, doctors have ordered her to rest her voice and completely recuperate before looking to schedule any work commitments.

Adele has also called off 10 dates that she was due to perform in North America next month.

The affected UK tour dates are:

Wolverhampton Civic Hall (November 7, 8)
Blackpool Empress Ballroom (10)
Bournemouth International Centre (12)
Cardiff Motorpoint Arena (14)
Plymouth Pavillions (15)
