Glastonbury boss Michael Eavis has revealed that he wanted Adele to headline next summer's festival, but that the singer said no.

The festival has not taken place this summer as it took its customary year off once in every five, but the organiser has said that he is gearing up for 2013 and wanted Adele to be one of the Pyramid Stage's headliners.

Speaking to the Metro, Eavis said that even though he wanted to book Adele, he thought the singer would find the experience "too daunting" and would not feel comfortable playing an event of Glastonbury's scale.

He said: "She knows that we want her anyway, but she doesn't want to do a thing our size. Going on the Pyramid Stage is a bit daunting in front of 80,000 people, it's a bit much really."

Eavis added that Adele was a frequent guest at the festival and was welcome any time, saying: "She comes every year usually, and has her own little party."

Eavis gave no further clues about his 2013 headliners, but had already confirmed earlier this year that his bill toppers were "already sorted".

Adele won two awards at yesterday's (May 17) Ivor Novello Awards, picking up the PRS For Music Most Performed Work award for 'Rolling In The Deep' and Songwriter Of The Year.
