Adele has reached sales of 25 million for her album '21'.

The singer's second album reached 10 million sales in the US last week, less than two years after its release, making her the only European female artist in history to reach that milestone.

The album was originally release on January 24, 2011 and features the hugely successful singles 'Rolling In The Deep' and 'Someone Like You'. It is the third LP to hit the 10 million sales mark this year, following Linkin Park's 'Hybrid Theory' – originally released in October 2000 – and Usher's 'Confessions', which was released in March 2004.

Adele's '21' has been so successful that it only dropped out of the Official UK Album Chart top 40 earlier this week, 22-months after its original release. According to the Official Charts Company, it charted at 42 in this weekend's countdown.

The album been certified 15-times platinum by the British Phonographic Industry for selling 4.5 million units in the UK. It is also the most downloaded album in UK history, the biggest-selling album of the 21st century in the UK and the fifth best selling album in the UK of all time. The album spent 71 consecutive weeks in the UK Top 10.
