Adele's '25' reaches one million UK sales in record-breaking time

Adele has broken the Official UK Album Chart record for the fastest million-selling album ever with '25'.

The album has sold over one million copies in just ten days since being released on November 10. '25' went straight to Number One on November 27 with sales of 800,000 Three days later and the Official Chart Company have today (November 30) confirmed that the album is now the biggest-selling album of 2015.

Ed Sheeran’s 'X' was previously the best-selling album of 2015. Sales of '25' have also had a positive effect on album sales as a whole, boosting the chart market by 21 per cent compared to the previous week.

As of last week Adele's '25' is officially the fastest-selling album of all time in the UK. The album passed the previous record holders Oasis and their 1997 album 'Be Here Now'. 'Be Here Now' sold 696,000 copies in its first week of release.

Additionally, '25' is also the most downloaded Number One album of all time in the UK after being downloaded 252,423 times last week.

Meanwhile, Adele will embark on a rare UK and Ireland tour in 2016, it has been confirmed. She will head out on the road for a series of arena gigs in February and March next year.

Starting with two nights at Belfast's SSE Arena on February 29 and March 1, Adele will then go on to play in Dublin, Manchester, London, Birmingham and Glasgow before heading to Europe for appearances across the continent.

Adele’s European dates will include Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen, Herning, Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, Zurich, Lisbon, Barcelona, Verona, Amsterdam, Paris and Antwerp.
