Whigs "shocked" by press

Afghan Whigs have launched an attack on the Texan press reports following a fight involving singer Greg Dulli and the Twilight Singersin Austin Texas.

Dulli, who spent three days in intensive care, is recovering at home after suffering a fractured skull in the brawl with a club security guard on December 11.[/url]

Afghan Whigs posted a statement on their web site that read:

"Local papers have already published a number of stories that almost exclusively present the story of the club's management and its lawyer...That these events took place in Austin, Texas, a city known throughout the US for its live music scene and as a home to a vibrant arts community, came as a rude shock. That the local papers would pursue such unbalanced coverage comes as perhaps an even ruder shock."

Local police in Austin have finished their investigation into the incident and will send their findings to a Grand Jury, who will then decide if criminal charges are to be brought against the club.

The band will play live again in February and have European dates planned for March.
