THEIR TREND'S ELECTRIC!
Singer Davey Havok and guitarist Jade Puget plan a fresh approach for their side project...
AFI are to head in a new electronic direction for singer DAVEY HAVOK and guitarist JADE PUGET's side project BLAQK AUDIO.
The pair plan to write the bulk of the new material whilst on their forthcoming US tour, which kicks off at California's Fresno Rainbow Ballroom on September 24.
Puget said: "Everything's electronic, no instruments... We've been experimenting- everything from instrumental to ambient stuff."
He added: "We're just going to see what happens. Dave and I listen to a lot of electronic music. I like all the EBM (Electronic Body Music) stuff, Covenant, Aphex Twin, Paul Oakenfold, AFI, DJ Shadow and BT."
Eight songs have already been completed for the album, which the duo plan to release next year.
Puget also revealed that they have started to write new songs for the next AFI record, following this year's 'Sing For The Sorrow', and plan to head into the studio next summer.
"I have a lot of stuff already written," Puget told Rolling Stone. "I've been working on a lot of electronic elements that would go into AFI... but I don't want it to go too far."
He explained: "AFI - it's guitar-based and it's instrument-based, but there's a lot of room for that. I love electronic music so much, and that's something I want to explore."
