Akon facing criminal charges for throwing fan offstage
Hip-hop star in trouble for another controversial stage move
Hip-hop star Akon is in trouble again, this time for throwing a fan into the audience at a concert and injuring a bystander.
The rapper apparently had a 15 year-old boy pulled onstage after the boy apparently heckled him during a performance in Fishkill, NY in June.
He then reportedly hoisted the boy onto this shoulders and threw him into the crowd, where he landed on Abby Rosa, who suffered concussion.
The report in the Associated Press says that Akon will appear in court on Monday for arraignment on a misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a minor, and second-degree harassment, a violation.
Akon found himself at the centre of controversy in April after he simulated sex with an underage girl during a performance in Trinidad. As a result, Verizon pulled sponsorship from Gwen Stefani’s US tour on which Akon was the opener.
