Akon misses court appearance

Rapper fails to appear after 'fan tossing'

Akon misses court appearance
Akon has failed to appear in court in New York in relation to charges stemming from a ‘fan tossing’ incident in June 2007.

The rapper was due to appear in court in Fishkill, NY on charges of second degree harassment and endangering the welfare of a minor after he threw 15-year-old Anthony Smith from the stage during a concert.

He appeared in court in December and pleaded not guilty to the charges.

His attorney was in court yesterday, and met with Assistant District Attorney Anthony Parisi and Justice Harold Epstein. The trio had a ten minute meeting after which the judge ordered Akon to appear in court on September 3 for a possible deposition.

If no deposition is placed next month, then the case will be go to trial.
