Akon, LL Cool J, John Legend to blog for Global Grind
Russell Simmons takes over as head of the website
Akon, LL Cool J, John Legend and Nas are among the acts who have signed up to become ‘celebrity bloggers’ on Global Grind, a site that aims to become the ‘Huffington Post of Hip Hop’.
Russell Simmons has taken over as editor-in-chief of the site, which serves as a social media platform developed by and for the hip hop community.
Simmons has been blogging on the site since its early days, and his blogs got such a strong response that the site launched an entire ‘Celebrity Blogger’ section.
Other celebrities who will blog for globalgrind.com include Bow Wow, Damon Dash, Jim Jones, Nelly, T-Pain and former Destiny’s Child member LeToya Luckett.
Blogging about his new position, Simmons writes: ‘President Barack H. Obama in his Inaugural Address affirmed, 'We are in a new era of responsibility.' And as we take back the
responsibility to fight poverty, ignorance and intolerance, we can and will make a difference.’
