Alabama Shakes' Brittany Howard covers Rodriguez with Jack White collaborator Ruby Amanfu
The pair sing 'I Wonder' backed by Jack White's all-male band The Buzzards
Searching For Sugar Man – the acclaimed film about the story of 'lost' Detroit protest singer Rodriguez was recently named Best Documentary at the Academy Awards.
The single is set for release on March 12, through Jack White's Third Man Records label, as part of the Blue Series. The Blue Series has previously seen releases by Tom Jones, Laura Marling, Insane Clown Posse and Beck.
The 7" release will be backed by a version of 'When My Man Comes Home', originally recorded by blues legend Memphis Minnie. Click here to listen.
The vocalists are accompanied by Jack White's all-male backing band, The Buzzards, who are made up of Dominic Davis, Daru Jones, Cory Younts, Ikey Owens and Fats Kaplin.
Last month, Brittany Howard joined forces with Mumford and Sons, Elton John, Mavis Staples and Zac Brown for an all-star tribute to the late Levon Helm of The Band at the Grammy Awards ceremony. T Bone Burnett acted as musical director for the tribute, which honoured the legendary drummer, who died last year aged 71.
