Pete Doherty reveals solo album plans

Albums 2008 preview: Babyshambles says album is out this year

Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty has confirmed he is recording his debut solo album – and will release it later this year.

The star began recording the album in the first half of 2007 with producer Jake Fior, who produced ‘For Lovers’, the Wolfman hit single Doherty sang vocals on in 2004.

Since then, the duo have been recording the album piecemeal in London – at Primrose Hill’s Mayfair studio and Wandsworth’s Britannia Row, making time between Doherty’s Babyshambles commitments. They plan to have the album complete in the summer and released soon afterwards.

“It’s going really, really well,” Doherty told NME.COM. “I like working with Jake a lot, we gel well. All the groundwork for the album is done and I’ve given Jake all my new songs – I’d say it was just over half recorded so far.”

Doherty confirmed the album will probably feature 12 songs, including ‘Ends’, ‘Cuckoo’, ‘Siberian Fur’, a more orchestral version of ‘For Lovers’, ‘Darksome Sea’ and ‘Withdrawn And Shaken’.
