Alec Baldwin: ‘David Cameron should resign’

'30 Rock' actor gives his two cents on phone hacking scandal

30 Rock and The Departed actor Alec Baldwin has taken to Twitter to call for Prime Minister David Cameron to resign.

His comments, which come at a time when Cameron is facing criticism for hiring former News Of The World editor Andy Coulson as his director of communications, have caused some to jump to the UK leader’s defence on the social media site.

Yesterday, Baldwin posted on Twitter.com/alecbaldwin: “Cameron should resign. England is filled with people who could do a better job”.

The message provoked an instant backlash with comments such as “stick to acting douche let other people do their job, you’re like the annoying sports fan that thinks he should be a coach” from fellow Twitter users.

In parliament yesterday, Cameron said: “With hindsight I would not have employed Andy Coulson” and added that he had “no inappropriate conversations” regarding News International‘s attempted takeover of BSkyB.

On Tuesday (July 19), Queen‘s Roger Taylor weighed into the hacking scandal by re-releasing his protest song Dear Mr Murdoch.
