Gordon Brown to buy 'X Factor' version of 'Hallelujah'
The Prime Minister isn't saying who he's buying the single for though
Brown made the admission during his final Downing Street news conference of the year, reports The Press Association.
He told reporters: "I think I will be buying the single as one of my Christmas presents. I think it is as a great song. I happened to hear some of it on Saturday night."
UK also gave his support to Burke's mum, former Soul II Soul singer Melissa Bell, who is in urgent need of a kidney and pancreas transplant.
"I have met her mother," Brown said. "She is leading a campaign that I also want to support for there to be donors.
"The donor card system has got to be improved because the fact is that only 25 per cent of people have cards, but 90 per cent say they would give an organ if it was going to save somebody's life.
"Her mother has been an inspiration in this campaign and I think Alexandra is going to be a very successful singer in the future."
Burke's version of 'Hallelujah' is expected to enter the UK singles chart at Number One this Sunday (December 21), with Jeff Buckley's cover likely to enter the top three.
