BLAIR - A ROCK'S OUT OF THE QUESTION Alice Cooper Tickets
The British Prime Minister was offered the opportunity to sing 'Elected' at the shock rocker's London show...
Prime Minister TONY BLAIR has turned down shock rocker ALICE COOPER's invitation to join him onstage for a rendition of classic track 'ELECTED', NME.COM can reveal.
As reported yesterday on NME.COM, Cooper had invited the Prime Minister to join him tonight (May 18) at Wembley Arena. The golf loving veteran, real name Vincent Furnier said: "I saw a commercial that they (the Labour Party) were using 'Elected', so I said "Well let's try and get Tony to come up and do the song with us."
However a spokesperson for the Labour leader's office told NME.COM this afternoon that though it "was a nice idea, the Prime Minister's schedule is very, very tight and he just can't make it."
The Labour Party never actually used the Cooper tune on any official election material. A novelty version of 'Elected', featuring Iron Maiden frontman Bruce Dickinson and Mr Bean, was released in 1997 during the election campaign.
The Labour spokesperson added that she could not comment on whether Mr Blair was an Alice Cooper fan or not.
