Polyphonic Spree, Ambulance Ltd file legal papers against label

They're objecting to labels attempt to sell contracts, catalogue

The Polyphonic Spree, Ambulance Ltd and Universal Music Group all filed papers on Friday (June 6) objecting to TVT’s attempts to sell its record contracts with bands that signed to the label before it went bankrupt.

The label filed for Chapter 11 (“a re-organisation, rather than a full on Chapter 7 bankruptcy”) in February and is also seeking to sell its back catalogues.

As a result of the filing, Ambulance Ltd are currently prevented from releasing any new music but are continuing to perform and work on new material for the follow up to their debut LP, released in 2004.

As previously reported, singer Marcus Congleton collaborated on 18 new tracks with John Cale in 2005, and after the band split officially in 2006, Congleton acquired ownership of the band name and has been working with a new band in recent months.

The band recently completed a tour of the east coast and will perform a show at Bowery Ballroom in New York on July 24.
