Amy Winehouse's dad responds to in-laws boycott calls

Mitch Winehouse says families are 'pulling in different directions' over singer

Amy Winehouse’s father has responded to calls from her in-laws to boycott the singer’s records.

The parents of the singer’s husband Blake Fielder-Civil called today (August 28) for fans not to by Winehouse's records until she cleans up.

However speaking after them on BBC Radio 5 Live, Mitch Winehouse said he thought the in-laws could do more themselves to help Amy and Blake.

“It is a horrible situation and our family and Blake’s family are living through hell,” he declared. “We have had medical advice, but the facts are very, very simple – the day after they came out of the facility we had a meeting with the GPs, specialists in dependency issues and eating disorders.”

However Mitch said that Giles and Georgette Fielder-Civil had not fully support that attempt.

“Giles and Georgette were due to come to that meeting but they chose to go fro a drink in the pub with Amy and Blake,” he claimed. “We have two families pulling in different directions. We want our children to be safe, but we have different definitions of how we can do that.”
