Amy Winehouse: 'I spend my life drinking'

Amy Winehouse spoke last night (September 4) at the Nationwide Mercury Music Awards ceremony, explaining that she won't go to rehab again.

Earlier in the ceremony the singer had performed a surprise live comeback, then lost out to Klaxons, who took home the 2007 prize.

Speaking to The Mirror, Winehouse said: “Normal people spend time thinking, ‘What am I going to do with my life?’ I spend my time drinking.”

She suggested that she wouldn’t be returning to rehab any time soon, saying, “I'm of the school of thought where, if you can’t sort something out for yourself, no one can help you. Rehab is great for some people but not others.”

Winehouse also said she believes that alcohol is more destructive than heroin. She struggled with both recently and explained: “Drinking long-term is a lot worse than doing heroin. Alcohol’s a real poison.”
