Amy Winehouse makes shaky gig comeback
Lyric fluffs and stage staggers for the jazz-pop star in Berlin
Following her performing comeback at the Mercury Music Awards and MOBO ceremonies in September, last night’s show was the first full gig Winehouse has played since she suffered a drug overdose in August.
The singer tripped and staggered as she walked onstage to rapturous applause, causing fans to speculate whether she was intoxicated.
Winehouse seemed twitchy and nervous, and stumbled over the first few lines of her cover version of ‘Valerie’ by The Zutons.
However, throughout the performance Winehouse became more and more professional, and won over the crowd with her hits, such as ‘Rehab’ and ‘You Know I’m No Good’.
The gig was the first night of Winehouse’s new European tour, which ends in Manchester on December 13.
