Amy Winehouse's singer speaks out about Grammy performance
Songstress seems sober and on the mend
Winehouse won five Grammys yesterday (February 10), and performed via videolink after being refused a visa. During her performance, she was surrounded by friends, family and label employees.
Speaking about her performance, Omotayo said: “It [the atmosphere in the studio] was absolutely ecstatic really, it was almost like a football atmosphere. Every time she won, it was like a goal. You could hear loud cheers.”
Speaking to Newsbeat, Omotayo added: “She was her usual funny self, making a joke a second. She’s a lot healthier at the minute, she's a lot happier.”
Omotayo continued that Winehouse was surprised to win so many gongs, but even though she did so well at the awards the success didn’t go to her head, and she boycotted the flowing champagne.
Omotayo revealed: “It was in the early hours, there was champagne everywhere, but she went upstairs to play pool.”
Winehouse is still rumoured to be performing at next week’s Brit Awards (February 20) with Mark Ronson.
