Rehab seems to be working for singer

Amy Winehouse's mum has spoken out about her Grammy-winning daughter's battle with drug addiction.

Janis Winehouse believes the singer is getting better after being caught on camera allegedly smoking crack.

She admitted the family had feared for the songstress’ health and explained that attending the Grammys on Sunday (February 10) would not have helped her daughter’s road to recovery.

Winehouse won five awards, but performed via videolink in London rather than attend the ceremony.

Winehouse’s mother said: “I think it would have been too much for her because all of the travelling and flying there. I mean, seeing what the Grammys were like, I thought if Amy were there, she’d be a little girl lost in it.”

Speaking to GMTV she added: “As you saw [on TV videolink for Grammys] she looks good. She’s on the road to recovery.”

She also revealed as a mother she felt powerless, stating: “I was helpless because there was nothing I could do. Amy had to do it for Amy and that’s the way it is.”

Winehouse is still undergoing rehab in a London clinic.
