Amy Winehouse arrested for suspected drug possession

The singer's in custody due to controversial video

Amy Winehouse was arrested in London today (May 7) on charges of suspected drug possession.

The arrest is connected to a video in which the singer was seen smoking what appears to be a crack pipe at her London home in January. The Winehouse video was subsequently posted on The Sun's website, as previously reported.

In a statement issued today, Winehouse's spokesperson said: "Amy Winehouse voluntarily attended a London police station today by appointment. She was arrested in order to be interviewed and is co-operating fully with enquiries.

"The interview relates to a video handed to police earlier this year."

Winehouse entered a rehabilitation clinic shortly after the video appeared.

Hope see ends up alright, she definately deserves to, shes got such a raw and honest beauty about her that is so rare in most bands around now. As for the video Ive no idea what kind of person would want to watch it. You'd have to be completely sick and souless to take pleasure in watching someones life be destroyed.Love and respect for Amy Winehouse!

I have no sympathy for her anymore! When she was with Blake we blamed Blake for her drug abuse and now she is alone she is just as bad. She has her own mind and mouth and should take control of her life and concentrate on her talent...Its well and truly pathetic to see her in such states!

Amy Amy Amy...I hate the tabloids, as i'm sure she do does. They reveal stuff just to earn a living, without understanding how hard it is being into drugs, and getting clean. They should show some respect to talented people like Winehouse, and let them get clean. if tabloids are gonna comment on musicians, it should be about their music, not their lifestyle. The Sun are so shallow, by selling the video, they make more money. It's a viscious cycle. I hope she ends all this on a good note, she has some wicked tracks. She's certainly one of the better female singers of this decade.

I'm really fed up people having a go at musicians for their drug taking. So what if Amy Winehouse does take drugs? The police can't charge her with anything anyway as she is no longer in possession of the drugs in the video.

Oh, what a mess she has got herself into. She needs serious help, i watched an old johnothan ross episode the other night and Amy was performing and was interviewed. It was about three years ago, and she is so different. She actually looks well and healthy. People blamed Blake for her abuse, but i'm not sure if that is the case anymore. X i have no sympathy for her being arrested for drug use but i feel sorry for her that she has changed from a healthy young woman to an ill looking addict. She desperately needs some help. xxxx
