Singer will play before Jay-Z on the main stage

Glastonbury festival organisers have confirmed that Amy Winehouse will be playing at the festival this year.

The star will play a slot on the Pyramid Stage on June 28, directly before Jay-Z's headline slot.

Festival organiser Emily Eavis told BBC Newsbeat that she was confident that Winehouse could be relied on. "I have total faith," she said. "I think she'll come and deliver.

"This is one of the biggest sets of the summer, supporting the most anticipated artist at Glastonbury in the past 38 years."

"I don't know how much [speculation that she is unreliable] is hot air from the press and how much is reality but she is pretty reliable actually. It's her personal life and no-one really knows the extent of what she's up to and I don't think it should be public knowledge.

"We all know she's a brilliant performer and I think that's what we should be focussing on."

Yet another artist who played last year. I'm going to enjoy Glasto for the new bands this year, but there's little to nothing new and exciting on the main stage. How about something a bit different?

Jay-Z is pretty damn different.

Oh gosh can't wait for yet another dreary performance off a totally overated, self indulgent waste of talent. Bring on Jay Z showing how it's done, real talent.

BigpoppaJ - just lol. oh, and is the talent Amy is 'wasting' not 'real' talent then?

Id rather Winehouse than Jay-z at Glasto for sure. All the hip-hoppers need to hip-hop outta there.

I agree with Panama Jack. I'd much rather see Amy bring it than Jay-Z. I thought he was supposed to retire already? he belongs at Glastonbury as much as Kylie Minogue does o_0

A blatant sign that the tickets aren't selling if they're having to reveal the identity of the 'mystery guest'. I don't mind her at all but I can't see what she's done since last year's Glasto to merit moving up the bill

acedrums, Amy Winehouse is mediocre at best, and that's being generous. Glastonbury needs Jay Z, the usual Glastonbury crowd don't like it cause of the musical snobbery they possess! Open up your minds children
