Amy Winehouse's husband given 27-month jail sentence

Blake Fielder-Civil learns his fate in London

Amy Winehouse's husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, has been given a 27-month jail sentence for assaulting a pub landlord then attempting to pervert the course of justice after the incident occurred.

The sentence was handed down to Fielder-Civil today (July 21) at London's Snaresbrook Crown Court.

Winehouse was not in court to hear her husband's fate, reports Sky News.

The singer's husband has been on remand in Pentonville Prison for the past nine months, suggesting that he could spend a further 18 months in jail.

Fielder-Civil pleaded guilty to the offences last month. The court heard how he and a friend, Michael Brown, assaulted James King in the MacBeth pub in east London on June 20 in 2006.

King suffered a broken nose and cheek-bone, said the prosecution's Jocelyn Ledwood during the case.

The court also heard that following the assault, along with Brown and two other men, Fielder-Civil attempted to bribe King and have the case abandoned.

Judge David Radford suggested that Fielder-Civil's alleged drug use had a bearing on his sentence.

Interrupting Jeremy Dein QC, who was representing the defendant in court, the Judge said, "Fielder-Civil has had no previous convictions rather than exemplary good character, if what I read about him and the use of drugs is true."

Good! Best place for him!! On the flip side we have to put up with Winehouse going on about him at every performance.
