Amy Winehouse has announced that her new record label, Lionness Records, has officially launched.

The debut album by Dionne Bromfield, the singer's 13-year-old goddaughter, 'Introducing Dionne Bromfield', will be the label's first release.

The jazz-pop singer made the announcement through her official website, Amywinehouse.com. She did not reveal when Bromfield's album would be released.

A statement on the site explained that Winehouse was inspired by the Motown and 2Tone labels. The label's name, the site explains, was inspired by a lioness necklace gift she received from her grandmother, Cynthia.

"My nan was like my best friend," Winehouse said. "She was the sweetest, strongest, most amazing person I've ever met and when I was thinking of what to call the label I picked up the necklace and knew straight away that I'd call it Lioness, in honour of Cynthia."

Speaking about Bromfield, Winehouse added: "The first time I heard Dionne sing, I couldn't believe what I was hearing… such an amazing voice from such a young girl. I'm just so proud of her. I'm very lucky to have a record label. I've got all these people that I love, that are really talented – and Dionne is my number one”.
