Mitch Winehouse has said that he believes his daughter died after a seizure, related to the drug Librium.

Amy Winehouse was prescribed the tranquilizer to 'calm' her withdrawal symptoms from alcohol, but it has been linked with the deaths of a number of people, including Michael Jackson, Heath Ledger, Marilyn Monroe and Judy Garland.

There were no illegal drugs found in Amy's system in the autopsy which followed her death on July 23, however, Mitch Winehouse has said:

There were prescription drugs. She was taking Librium. It is a relaxant given to people who are detoxing. But it increases the chance of seizures. I think she had a seizure and this was the time when there was no one there to rescue her.

He continued:

I was there once, it was pure fluke. She just hit the floor… She’d had a couple of seizures before, brought about by her bring drinking.

In the interview with The Mirror, the late jazz and soul singer’s father also commented on the fact that Amy's problems with drugs were over. He added: "If her death had happened four years ago it would have been fair enough. But I thought we were out of the woods."

Mitch Winehouse will launch the Amy Winehouse Foundation on September 14, what would have been her 28th birthday. The foundation will help young people who are battling problems with alcohol and drugs.
