Amy Winehouse's father has revealed that her family were "very emotional" when listening back to her new album 'Lioness: Hidden Treasures'.

The record, which was released today (December 5), features archived songs compiled by the late singer's producers Mark Ronson and Salaam Remi.

Appearing on ITV's Daybreak, the singer's father Mitch Winehouse said:

The estate, which I'm a part of - my ex-wife and I - we could decide to put it out or not put it out, and when we went to listen to the album it was a very difficult time for us. It was very emotional.

He continued:"But we had to sit through it and after the first couple of songs we sort of calmed down a little bit. Our son was there as well and we all had to be in agreement that the album was of the same quality or better, in fact, than 'Frank' and 'Back To Black', and we were more than pleasantly surprised."

At the weekend the singer's former boyfriend Reg Traviss has said that he believes it is "inevitable" that a biopic will be made about the late singer.

He said: "I guess a biopic is inevitable. I have been asked but I honestly don’t think I could do it. I’d be too close to it".

Traviss added : "Whoever does write and direct the film may exaggerate certain points to make it more 'Hollywood'. The family would want to be involved to make sure that it’s done justice. But right now it’s all too raw."

Amy Winehouse's posthumous album 'Amy Winehouse Lioness: Hidden Treasures' is released today (December 5).
