Amy Winehouse's father Mitch has scotched plans to make a biopic of the late singer's life.

Mitch, who established the Amy Winehouse Foundation following his daughter's death earlier this year, told the Daily Mail that he wouldn't give his permission for her songs to be used in a film of her life story.

Earlier this month, Winehouse's former boyfriend, the filmmaker Reg Traviss, had said it was "inevitable" that a biopic would be made about the singer and confirmed he had been approached about taking control of the project, but had refused as he was "too close" to the subject matter.

However, Mitch – who owns the copyright to his daughter's music – said of plans to make the film:

It would hardly be a biopic without the music and we'd never allow the songs to be released.

Last month, Mitch spoke about his decision to give his permission for the release of the posthumous album 'Amy Winehouse Lioness: Hidden Treasures', and insisted he wouldn't have allowed the LP to be put out if the material wasn't good enough.

He said: "The family view was nothing was going to go out unless it was comparable to 'Frank' or 'Back To Black'. If it wasn't as good as that then we wouldn't have allowed it to go out."

Yesterday (December 11), the album went straight in at Number One in the Official UK Albums Chart. Speaking about the success, Amy Winehouse's mother Janis said: "It's especially good for the foundation and knowing that every sale will go to help a deserving cause makes the news all the more special."
