The charity set up in Amy Winehouse's name has revealed that it has raised over £230,000 since her death.

The Amy Winehouse Foundation marked its first anniversary on what would have been her 29th birthday today (September 14) with the huge figure and has pledged to raise £500,000 by the end of the year.

The charity was set up by her father Mitch Winehouse to provide support for "young people, especially those who are in need by reason of ill health, disability, financial disadvantage or addiction".

Among the donations made for disadvantaged young people, include £35,360 to the New Horizon Youth Centre and £20,000 to Fitzrovia Youth In Action, reports The Metro. It has also paid for a full scholarship to the Sylvia Young Theatre School, which Winehouse attended as a teenager.

Other charities to have so far received funding include the MS Society, The Pilion Trust - Crash Pad Shelter, London Irish Centre, Little Havens Hospice and Chestnut Tree House Hospice and Hopes & Dreams.

The Amy Winehouse Foundation also received proceeds from 'Lioness: Hidden Treasures', a posthumous collection of unreleased recordings that came out last December. It debuted at Number One on the UK albums chart and has since gone double platinum.

The singer died on July 23 last year. She was found dead at her north London home. She was 27. Coroners later confirmed that Winehouse, who had battled drink and drug addiction for several years, had died of alcohol poisoning.

A full programme of events is currently being planned for 2013 to mark what would have been the late singer's 30th birthday.
