A theatre version of Amy Winehouse's life is set to open in Denmark next year.

'Amy' will tell the story of Winehouse's career and rise to fame as well as her ill-fated relationships with men, drink and drugs. The play is set to open in January 2013 with a statement from the company behind the stage show declaring that the show also tackles the pressure put on Winehouse by a 'sensationalist public'.

Announcing their show, the Danish Royal Theatre stated that Amy will show the: "enormous pressure a sensationalist public put on a young superstar when her problems began." The play was written by a consortium of 11 people naming themselves "Det roede rum" with a script drawn together from concerts, interviews Winehouse gave as well as newspaper clippings and TV appearances.

Amy Winehouse passed away in July 2011. The Danish play opens in Copenhagen on January 20 2013.
