Amy Winehouse's wedding dress stolen from former home

Dresses worth £130,000 are taken from the deceased singer's home in North London

Burglars have broken into the former home of Amy Winehouse and stolen two dresses worth £130,000.

The burglary saw thieves break into the property in Camden, North London and take just the two dresses and nothing else, leading Amy's Father Mitch to suspect that the theft was more than simply opportunism. The dresses taken include the white anchor print dress worn by Winehouse at her Miami marriage to Blake Fielder-Civil in 2006 and the newspaper print dress she wore during a performance on Later... with Jools Holland later that year.

Speaking to The Sun about the theft, Mitch Winehouse explained that he feels his decision to sell the home alerted thieves to what was available inside. "The house in Camden is being sold, so all of her possessions have been tagged, numbered and logged in preparation of storage. There was a window of about two days while that process was underway when the dresses could have been taken," he said.

Mitch Winehouse added: "A few people were involved, and there was some coming and going. We're going through everything else to see what else, if anything, has been lifted. It's sickening that someone would steal something in the knowledge of its sentimental value"

It is understood that the dresses were to be auctioned off to raise funds for the Amy Winehouse Foundation with the wedding dress expected to make around £100,000 at auction and the newspaper print dress worth £30,000.
