Blake Fielder-Civil has said he regrets introducing heroin to Amy Winehouse.

The singer's ex-husband opened up about their relationship on ITV's The Jeremy Kyle Show and talked candidly about the couple's addiction to the substance.

Recalling the first night they pair took heroin together, Fielder-Civil told Jeremy Kyle – a presenter notorious for his confrontational show – that he "didn't think she'd ever experience (heroin)" without him. He said: "I'd taken it about three or four times, we were in a hotel in east London and I think I had about £10 of heroin with me, which is something I used to do after a club. I was smoking it on foil and she said, 'Can I try some?' I think I might have put up a weak resistance, the fact is whatever I said she did end up having some."

Asked if he felt that moment in an east London hotel room was the crossroads of Amy Winehouse's life, he replied "Well, yeah." He continued: "We were using it once a week for about two to three weeks, to then twice a week and then it gradually built up like that. We smoked, she never injected it."

He added: "I have to be really sort of conscious about what I say - I don't want to feel like I'm shirking responsibility. The fact is what I'm saying is of course I regret it, not just 'cos of the damage it's caused Amy and the loss of life, but the damage to her family but also to my family and also to me."

Amy Winehouse died July 23, 2011 aged 27. Earlier this year, a second inquest into the singer's death confirmed that she died as a result of accidental alcohol poisoning. Last year, Fielder-Civil was rushed to hospital with multiple organ failure following a heavy drinking session with a friend.
